This Privacy Policy describes how Whitelen Technologies Inc. ("Company", "we", "us", "our"), operating the FrenchPrep platform ("Platform", "Service"), collects, uses, and protects your personal information. Whitelen Technologies Inc. is incorporated in British Columbia, Canada, with principal offices in Vancouver, BC.

By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)and the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: name, email address, and password when you register
  • Payment information: billing details processed securely through Stripe (we do not store credit card numbers)
  • Profile data: exam mode preferences, study schedule, and diagnostic results
  • User-generated content: written responses, speaking recordings submitted for practice or grading

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: practice sessions, completion records, scores, study time, and progress metrics

1.3 Information from Organizations

If your account is managed by a Center (educational organization) or instructor, your name, email, and academic progress may be visible to your assigned instructor and center administrator for educational purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Platform
  • Personalize your learning experience (practice recommendations, progress tracking)
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support
  • Operate the analytics and safety monitoring necessary to keep the Platform, its content, and its users protected — including detecting fraud, abuse, unauthorized redistribution attempts, credential sharing, and other misuse that could compromise fairness or security for other subscribers
  • Ensure platform security and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

By using the Platform under any license type — monthly subscription, prepaid fixed-term license, demo, or promotional access — you acknowledge and agree that we operate these analytics and safety measures to protect your data, protect our content, and keep the learning experience fair for every subscriber. We do not sell this data; we use it to run the service safely.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We may share limited data with:

  • Stripe: for payment processing (subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy)
  • Your instructor/center: if your account is part of an organization, your instructor and center administrator can view your progress, scores, and submissions for educational purposes
  • Service providers: cloud hosting and infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements
  • Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or government request

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Hashed and salted password storage (bcrypt)
  • Secure, access-controlled cloud infrastructure
  • Role-based access controls limiting data visibility to authorized personnel

We take the security of your data seriously and no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we continuously work to improve our protections.

5. Content Protection

Our exam preparation content represents a significant investment, and we take reasonable steps to protect it. As a standard industry practice, we may use technical measures such as copy-prevention tools anddigital watermarking to safeguard our materials. This helps us maintain content quality and ensure fair access for all subscribers.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you cancel your subscription, we may retain your data for a reasonable period for legal, accounting, or administrative purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Security and misuse detection. To keep the Platform safe and lawful, we monitor for activity that we determine, in our reasonable discretion, to be fraudulent, abusive, unauthorized, or otherwise inconsistent with the intended educational use of the Platform, or with our Terms of Service. Where such activity is detected, we may retain the relevant logs, device and network signals, and account records for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate, prevent recurrence, defend our rights, or cooperate with lawful requests, and we may suspend, restrict, or terminate the account without prior notice and without refund in accordance with the Terms of Service. This applies equally to monthly subscription accounts and to prepaid, fixed-term licenses.

7. Your Rights

Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations)
  • Withdraw consent for data processing (which may result in inability to use the Service)

8. Cookies and Local Storage

The Platform uses browser local storage to maintain your session and preferences (e.g., authentication tokens, study progress cache). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising trackers.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

10. International Users

The Platform is hosted and operated in Canada. If you access the Platform from outside Canada, your information may be transferred to and processed in Canada, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction. By using the Platform, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or Platform notification. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
